Once again it was VERY cold, damp and miserable outside. Not conducive weather for touring. After lunch we went back to the museum. This time we wandered through the other exhibits. These showed various facets of life in Monbetsu over the years. At one time they mined gold in the area, Fishing and farming have always been an important part of the life here. The environment doesn't seem too conducive for industry and as a result, the population of Monbetsu is on the wane.
From the museum, we went to visit Ryuichi's other daughter - Yoko and her husband. Of course that meant going for tea and a pastry.
Randy and Yasuko wanted to take us to their temple. The "manager" of the temple wasn't going to be there until 5pm so we took our time and wandered around a bit. When we got to the temple, we visited the place where the cremains of Yasuko's parents and sister are kept.
Lunch time before our afternoon excursion. Grandpa, Randy, Ryuichi, Eriko and Yasuko. What's for lunch? What do you expect? Leftovers from last night's banquet.
Above and to the left are various altars in the temple. They are even more beautiful than the pictures.
Below left is the crypt for the cremains of Yasuko's parents and sister.
Off course we can't go anywhere without a little sustenance. Here we are with the manager of the temple and his wife having tea and a sweet bun,
We had to watch our time at the temple because we had a dinner reservation at 6:30. It might seem like we are going from meal to meal. That's about right, This time the meal was a DELICIOUS steak dinner,
